So far, our Agent can answer questions using the Knowledge Base and trigger paths based on the user's input. However, while AI agents that can have conversations are cool, AI agents that can do things are even cooler. That's where Functions come into play.
What are Functions?
If you've not built with Functions before, in short, they allow you to connect your AI agent to third-party services such as Airtable, Shopify, and Make.com. They also let you run custom JavaScript code inside your agent. You can learn more in the Voiceflow Basics course.
Adding Functions to your Agent
Adding Functions to an Agent is as simple as adding paths: just press the 🌐 icon on the sidebar to add Community Functions, or the + icon to add a custom function.
